APSCA is hiring: Director of Professional Conduct

APSCA is looking for a Director of Professional Conduct to lead its professional conduct function and help uphold the integrity, consistency, and credibility of social compliance auditing worldwide.

This is a governance-critical opportunity for a senior ethics and compliance professional who brings sound judgment, independence, investigative expertise, and a strong understanding of social compliance auditing, responsible sourcing, human rights, or related global fields.

About the role

The Director of Professional Conduct will serve as a senior functional leader and a key member of APSCA’s CEO leadership team. The role will work closely with APSCA’s Ethics Advisor, disciplinary boards, Members, and global stakeholders to ensure that APSCA’s Code and Standards is consistently interpreted, applied, and upheld.

The successful candidate will lead complex investigations and disciplinary processes, provide authoritative guidance on professional conduct, and help strengthen the systems and governance practices that support confidence in the profession.

What you’ll do

As Director of Professional Conduct, you will:

Lead the professional conduct function and support the strategic development of APSCA’s conduct framework.
Ensure APSCA’s Code and Standards are interpreted and applied consistently across the Membership.
Oversee and conduct investigations into alleged violations, including evidence review, interviews, analysis, and case preparation.
Ensure investigations are impartial, timely, well documented, and procedurally sound.
Lead APSCA’s Member Auditor and Member Firm Disciplinary Boards in collaboration with the Ethics Advisor.
Prepare cases and relevant facts for presentation, facilitate deliberations, and support procedural fairness, while maintaining clear independence from voting board decisions.
Advise the CEO, senior leadership team, and Members on Code interpretation, conduct expectations, and emerging ethical risks.
Provide general guidance, training, and communication to help Members understand APSCA’s Code and Standards.
Maintain appropriate boundaries between general guidance and case-specific advice.
Ensure investigations, disciplinary processes, and other conduct matters are documented securely and accurately.
Lead and develop a globally distributed team, managing resources and supporting consistent, high-integrity case handling across time zones.

You will also bring:

High integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to manage sensitive, complex, and high-risk matters.
Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
Exceptional written, verbal, and public-speaking skills.
The ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders across global time zones.
A bachelor’s degree. An advanced degree is preferred.
Flexibility to travel internationally or domestically as required, approximately 5%.

Location and working conditions

APSCA is incorporated in the United States and prefers this position to be based in the United States. Candidates in other locations may also be considered based on business need.

APSCA operates globally, with team members and Board representatives across multiple countries. The role therefore requires flexible working hours to support collaboration across time zones.
